If you attach importance to the action and situation, my recommendation is Haikyu!! . (Japanese Title: ハイキュー！！) That is a volleyball manga in high schools. First of all, the animation and direction are so fantastic. Secondly, conversations in Japanese sound kind of comical. And then, watching this anime can bring motivation to try something hard.
If you attach importance to the situation and how to use language, my recommendation is Case Closed . (Japanese Title: 名探偵コナン) That is also known as Detective Conan. That is one of the Japanese detective manga series. Comprehension is required because the situation is a little complicated. Besides, some of the character’s actions seems unrealistic. It can be found that that manga make use of characteristics of Japanese words and letters. Anagram, homonym or something like that can be seen.

As I see it, the most popular Japanese animation series is ‘studio ghibli’. since many Japanese support ‘studio ghibli’ and love the animated cartoons, some of them sometimes are rebroadcast in Japan, for example, My Neighbor Totoro (Japanese Title: となりのトトロ), Howl’s Moving Castle (Japanese Title: ハウルの動く城), and Castle in the Sky (Japanese Title: 天空の城ラピュタ).

I think people from overseas know the animation series. In fact, when I was in charge as a Japanese teaching assistant in volunteer at a private school in Australia, Teachers at the school sometimes used the animation series as a teaching material in Japanese classes. Students watched the anime with English subtitles and listened to Japanese sounds.
